Feathered chain Stitch
It is feathered chain stitch this time for kurthi worked on semi crepe material.
I have used 4 strands of silk thread in this project. though it is bit difficult to work with 4 strands of silk thread happy note that I don't need to work stem stitch.
I always like to avoid stem stitch ..
You can see one more project with feathered chain stitch worked earlier here..

Mogga Kuttu: A combination of Fly stitch and daisy stitch
This is my 5th project with the mogga kuttu which is a combination of fly and lazy daisy stitch. You can find my earlier projects worked with this stitch on a saree blouse, kurthi, salwar and a saree.
I have selected the same design which was worked couple of years back; as the dress was given away. Though I have a full book of neck designs with this stitch i couldn't make new as it takes lot of time.
Material: semi crepe
thread: silk threads
stich for neckline: basket stitch..for the first time I have used baasket stitch and I loved it..did you too?
Actual colour of the dress material is quite different from the pictures. In real it is nice double shaded blue colour.

Balloon Work: kurthi
Balloon work is nothing but long and short stitch done on balloon shapes. Usually done with 2 different shades of threads. There are many design books available in the market for balloon work.
I did this work on fine quality cotton material. The threads and the fabric colours slightly vary from the actual colours.
You can see there are 2 incomplete flowers in the neck part. I thought the neck will be too small. If the tailor can make suitable neck pattern I will complete them.
I like this design very much. I did the same work on same design many years back; may be more than 8 years back to gift someone. This is also as a gift to someone..:). Planning to do one more with the same..
At present I am working on a kancheepuram silk saree with kutch designs.
Daughter doing good. I am going to stay with her in PG for a week. No cooking , no house chores. So I will get lot of time to do embroidery.

Knotted Broken Chain Stitch: Kurthi
This is one of my old works. I have done knotted broken chain stitch as main stitch in this project with cone threads.
Cone threads are like rayon threads having good sheen which are suitable to do brazilian embroidery.
cone threads..2 threads in the right shows how they get tangled and...
this is the solution I found as how to store them..
you can find the tutorial for this stitch in my blog here..
These are the embroidery I did on kurthi..
bullion tipped daisy stitch with anchor cotton stranded thread, french knots in the centre
knotted broken chain stitch with anchor stranded cotton thread
long n short stitch for small flowers
buttonhole stitch for leaves
herringbone stitch for body part of butterfly, knotted broken chain stitch for wings

Trellis Stitch: Kurthi
I tried trellis stitch as main stitch for the big flower for this kurthi..stitch didn't come well though..a lesson I learnt is I should try the stitch on a cloth before working with a project..trellis stitch is bit difficult with cone thread as the thread unravel fast twist easily.
And Navar work for the butterfly and small flower on the neck part..
The other stitches are balloon work, long and short stitch, stem stitch, french knots, herringbone stitch, mogga guttu..
For trellis stitch I have used cone thread and the rest of the stitches are done with silk thread.

Net Work: Kurthi
I did net work on this cotton kurthi. In telugu this stitch is familiar with the name vala kuttu. Vala means net. The stitch is variation of buttonhole stitch.
For the flowers I have used 2 strands of shaded silk thread. Long and short stitch for leaves with 2 strands of shaded silk thread. Stem stitch for stem.
I started to stitch this dress for me but gifted to my niece when she visited here..it looks best on her.
