Navar Work completed

At last I am able to finish navar work which I started some time back..
This embroidery is done to hide the stains on my old benaras saree.  Saree is having design except  on pleats part. So I did small motifs where there are stains and to match with I have  done big bunches.  Totally I did 3 big bunches and few leaves and flowers where there were stains. I did buttonhole stitch for leaves, satin stitch for small flowers, french knots in the center of the big flowers and stem stitch for stem stems. I do satin stitch with another method. will show you some day..
How do you like it!!?

Navar Work

Navar work is one of the beautiful stitches with weaving technique. Stitch is simple but very tricky to stitch with silk threads.
Below is the paper clipping  which was published in telugu daily in the year 2001.

Below are the pictures of worked example from the design book I have..

Now I am working on the above design..My trials are going on to get perfect finishing..

This is the Rakhi I made this year with couching method..

Suggestions and comments are most welcom on my trials with navar work..

Trellis Stitch: Kurthi

I  tried trellis stitch as main stitch for the big flower for this kurthi..stitch didn't come well though..a lesson I learnt is I should try the stitch  on a  cloth before working with a project..trellis stitch is bit difficult with cone thread as the thread unravel fast twist easily.
And Navar work for the butterfly and small flower on the neck part..
The other stitches are balloon work, long and short stitch, stem stitch, french knots, herringbone stitch, mogga guttu..
For trellis stitch I have used cone thread and the rest of the stitches are done with silk thread.
